  1. “Going Deeper into the Disciplines for Ordinary Disciples”Series Wrap

  2. A Spiritual Discipline is any activity that can help you gain power to live life as Jesus taught and modelled.

  3. 3 things that Spiritual Disciplines are not… 1. Spiritual Disciplines are not a barometer of spirituality

  4. 2. Spiritual Disciplines are not necessarily unpleasant

  5. 3. Spiritual Disciplines are not a way to earn favour with God

  6. 1 Corinthians 9:24 (NIV) Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

  7. 1 Timothy 4:6-10 (Msg) You’ve been raised on the Message of the faith and have followed sound teaching. Now pass on this counsel to the followers of Jesus there, and you’ll be a good servant of Jesus. Stay clear of silly stories that get dressed up as religion.

  8. Exercise daily in God—no spiritual flabbiness, please! Workouts in the gymnasium are useful, but a disciplined life in God is far more so, making you fit both today and forever. You can count on this. Take it to heart. This is why we’ve thrown ourselves into this venture so totally.

  9. The Spiritual Practice of Celebration (JOY) The Spiritual Practice of Slowing (The Unhurried Life and Retreating) The Spiritual Practice of Going Deeper In Personal Prayer The Spiritual Practice of Servanthood

  10. The Spiritual Practice of Fasting The Spiritual Practice of Listening to the Spirit

  11. The Spiritual Practice of Secrecy The Spiritual Practice of Suffering

  12. The Spiritual Practice of “setting Regulas” that develop a well-ordered heart

  13. The Spiritual Practice of Confession The Spiritual Practice of reflecting on Scripture The Spiritual Practice of Lavish Giving

  14. The purpose of this series was to encourage you and equip you to be more like Christ

  15. Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
