  1. Active Directory Consolidation November 2011 Update Erick Engelke

  2. So far… • Needs assessed • Improved directory structure designed • All the bits moved to latest server versions • Nexus prepped • Accounts moved to new structure in both • All ADS accounts migrated to Nexus, incl.SIDs • Passwords synched for all password changes

  3. So far (continued) • Migration of workstations and GPOs has been tested, but not done in production yet • New IST netapp has been configured for use in nexus

  4. Current Status • Last few months we have been waiting for WatIAm to be ready to provision accounts in both directories • Hope this step will be completed in weeks

  5. What Happens Next • Once WatIAm account management is automatic, we can split off into multiple concurrent projects • Workstation migration project • Straightforward apps (ONA, maintain wireless, sharepoint) • Big oracle systems (Fore, Quest, myhrinfo) • D2L, • MS-Exchange • MS databases

  6. Workstation project • Migrate GPOs • Migrate necessary supporting servers • Test migrating some user workstations • Document and refine process (automate) • Stage migration in manageable clusters

  7. Database Applications • Complexity depends on vendor support • Those based on LDAP easier than some MS • Some are old technologies and maybe cannot be rebuilt, recompiled, reconfigured, etc.
