Sustainability Team Accomplishments • $2,169,000.00 savings and cost avoidance (2 years) • 19.99% EUI reduction FY2009-FY2012 (schools only) • Updating Membership to Sustainability Council • Continue to revise Sustainability Plan for Fayette County Public Schools • Creation of Monthly Energy Reports to share information on their progress with each school • Revised sustainability curriculum: E=USE2 (Education leads to Understanding Sustainability, Energy and our Environment) • E=USE2 experienced 20% growth from 2010-2011 school year: 40 schools; over 1,300 students • Developed STEM partnership with UK Dept of Education • Facilitated nine Design 101 & Renovation 101 Teams • Supported Multiple Sustainability Initiatives & Programs • Maintained Sustainability website and produce quarterly “It’s About Sustainability” programs • Recipients of Several Awards & Sustainability Grants

  6. Sustainability Plan Developed with four main goals to work towards: • Strive to be Toxins Free • FCPS will strive to be toxins free. To the extent possible, we will eliminate chemicals and other materials that could adversely impact the health of the students, faculty and staff or the air and water of our community. • Use Natural Resources Responsibly • Fayette County Schools will utilize our natural resources responsibly. We will develop programs to continually assess and reduce our energy and water usage. We will also manage programs that reduce and recycle solid wastes that are produced within the school system. • Create Indoor & Outdoor Green & Healthy Spaces • We will create green and healthy spaces inside and around our schools. • Teach, Learn, Engage, and Celebrate • Fayette County will be a national leader in environmental education and provide an enjoyable, engaging and celebratory experience for our students. Approved by KY State Board of Education 12.7.12 • Serve on KELP Implementation Team; RPE Pilot School • Goals • Ensure high school graduates are environmentally literate • Provide PD for K-12 educators to improve skill in teaching about environmental issues and field-based pedagogical skills • Develop system of assessments to measure environmental literacy of KY students • Provide KY students with the opportunities for positive interactions with natural environment

Goals for the Future • Move the district towards live energy monitoring technology via integrated sub-metering data analysis and comprehensive dashboard interface • Continue to track and post monthly energy consumption data and recognize/reward schools for improved consumption • Implement financial awards for energy saving schools • Revise and release updated FCPS Sustainability Plan • Set new energy consumption & cost savings goals • Further develop School Energy & Sustainability Plan for each FCPS school • Increase E=USE2 participation to 44 schools; provide curriculum standard alignment to teachers and administrators (Common Core, Core Content, Speaking & Listening, NAEE, KELP) • Continue development of KELP (KY Environmental Literacy Plan) and pilot implementation in FCPS • Continue to aggressively pursue and develop new local, state and national partnerships and sponsorships
