  3. PHYSICAL FEATURES • Black dots • Tan orange skin • 200 pounds or more or maybe less • About 4 feet tall • Good eye sight • Big ears to hear with • Huge eyes to see and at night • because they are nocturnal • Long tail • Long legs • whiskers

  4. Life span • Leopards live 28 years in wild • 15 in captivity • Most leopards live 20 to 25 tops • If lucky in captivity they can live 20 years • If lucky in the wild they an live 30 years

  5. Are They Endangered ? • The leopard is endangered • There are very few left • It is endangered from hunters • Even lions can kill leopards

  6. Habitat • The Leopard lives in hot places like Africa • The Leopard lives in grassy planes of Africa • The leopard is a very unique animal it can survive many harsh climates • The leopard lives in trees and grassy areas

Physical adaptation • Big eyes to see in the dark because they are nocturnal • Spots to camouflage themselves • Long legs to help them run fast • Tails don’t do much • Big ears to help them hear predators and prey • They also have big pads with thick fur on feet which helps them travel on the rocky surfaces

  13. Behavioral adaptation • Slick so that no one sees them • Lazy so that they rest and wait for prey • Nocturnal because that is when they can get their prey • Fierce because they never give up and don’t let go of their food • Protect young so that they don’t become extinct

  14. Physiological Adaptations • Great sense of smell so they know where their prey is • The leopards have very strong leg muscles that help them to jump long distances. and Snow leopards use this to stop sinking into the snow. • They have a double layered coat to keep them warm.

  15. FUN FACTS • The Black Panther is a relative of the Leopard • They can out run a hyena • One of the only mammals that can clime trees • Not very many in captivity • Most live in Africa but surprisingly they don’t live In a lot of other places
