  2. 1. Ke-tsiap • Ketchup that most of us like, was first invented in China. In China, they called ketchup ‘ke-tsiap’ or ‘kecap’. However, Chinese people made kechup without any tomatoes, so the color of ketchup used to be white • It changed to ketchup as it added tomatoes and came to Europe It’s too obvious! Answer is (2)! Very Easy! Answer is (1)! Which one is ketchup? White one Red one British man Chinese man

  3. 2. Al-Jabr • Came from the word ‘al-jabr,’ which means solving the equation in Arab. • Arab mathematician Mohammed ibn-Musa al-Khowarizmi • It changed to algebra as it came to Europe. Have you learned algebra in your school? Al-jabr? Of course!!!!!!! Conversation between British student and Arabian student

Shah-K-Mate • Checkmate was once called ‘Shah-K-Mate,’ which means ‘king is dead!’ (Shah: King, Mate: Murder). • It came from Farsi Language in B.C. 550 • ‘Sh’ is hard to pronounce, so Europeans changed to Ch. So it is checkmate now. • It is now used in chess, when the king has nowhere to avoid from the enemy. Shah-k-mate? Let’s retreat! We have no hope now. Checkmate! Oh my god!!!! I lost!!! By the time when the word ‘shah-k-mate’ was made. Nowadays

  5. 4. xocoatl • Cocoa Tree was called ‘cacahuaquchtl’ in Maya culture, and chocolate was called ‘xocoatl,’ which meant ‘bitter water.’ • It added sugar and came to Europe. The name was changed to ‘chocolate’ for people to pronounce easily. One box of chocolate per week, okay? One box of xocoatl per week? OKAY!! Ancient Mayan Modern European

Words are ‘created!!’ For this year, words like Abdominoplasty noun) Medicine a surgical operation involving the removal of excess flesh from the abdomen Obesogenic Adjective) Tending to cause obesity Modern people care about their face, style and stuffs like that, so new words are related to themselves. (How they look like, what makes them not pretty)

  7. Some words that will be created • Like us developing, word will develop very quickly.There are some words that will be created within 5 years Tonyish adj. Very cool and exciting e.g.) This computer game is so tonyish! Gerryful adj. Very fast and sly Jerry in ‘Tom & Jerry’ is so gerryful!

  8. Some words that will be created (2) • These are words made by Gerald: Tonied v. Do really well in the exams - e.g.) I totally tonied this exam n. Nerd Intriguingsome adj. Very strange and interesting; -Gerry is so intriguingsome n. alien
