  1. The above security sign shows a picture of a gun and says protected by second amendment security. This is a political cartoon saying that the person in that house has a gun and the right to have that gun This is a picture of President Obama after the Gabrielle Gifford's shooting saying we need to take executive action on gun safety. This is President Lyndon Johnson. In 1968, he signed the Gun Control Act which regulated interstate commerce in firearms. This affected who could buy and who could sell fire arms. This picture is showing the Gun-Free school zone act which made it so guns couldn’t be on school zones The gun above is an example of an unloaded handgun in which was brought into a bank robbery. The robbers got caught and were charged with assault by use of a dangerous weapon. In the case of McLaughlin V. The United States, the robbers were guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon even though the weapon was unloaded. Discrimination Summarizing Paragraph The NRA(National Rifle Association, a group for gun owners) rights have been upheld and denied. If you are carrying a gun you have the right unless you use it as an assault weapon. So, in the case of McLaughlin V. The United States the robbers were rightfully guilty cause they used it as an assault weapon. In the case of Jack Miller the rights were violated cause he had the right to carry that gun cause of the second amendment. Lastly, the majority of the time the NRA’s rights are upheld, but many people discriminate them as hillbilly’s and republicans. By: Name This picture is meant to represent a background check which was made a law in 1993. It is called the Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act. Which says that all people buying a gun must be background checked. The gun above is the gun Jack Miller was carrying. The Supreme Court’s ruling reversed the district court, holding that the Second Amendment does not guarantee an individual the right to keep and bear a sawed- off double barrel shotgun The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives was transferred from the Department Of Homeland Security to the Department of Justice in 1972 by President Nixon.

  2. Final Posters: Grading Rubric • Has all required elements: • Your name:  • an appropriate title: Does it include the NRA logo? Otherwise it’s just “Discrimination”—confusing! • pictures and captions:  • concluding paragraph:  • Writing: • Explains connection of picture with the Act, action, case, or Amendment: Great captions, Student! You have a couple of Acts, Actions, cases, and the obvious Amendment. Your captions are clear and descriptive. The only mistake is that ATF wasn’t transferred from DHS to DOJ in 1972—DHS didn’t come about until Bush 43. • Concluding paragraph wraps up: Good point on rights being upheld despite negative social perception of NRA members. CS? • Grammar, mechanics, and style: The final ¶ sentence could be proofread! • Logical choices for pictures and what they represent: • Very appropriate choices all around: I especially like the altered ADT sign, the background check, the school sign, and the shotgun. • Presentation: • Neat, organized, logical: I think that decision to incorporate the pictures and captions into boxes paid off—this looks professional and neat! I don’t know about thematic organization: the Acts are separated by the cases and the executive actions are separated by the title. • Little blank space: Very little yet not jumbled. • Visual Appeal: Looks readable! • Grade and Comments: 56/60 = 93% = A • Paperweight Grading Rubric • Clear and creative symbolic relevance to your group’s special plight or needs: Love the shape of the paperweight and the quotation—perfectly symbolizes your group • Appropriate size: Yes, with the mounting block. Obviously, in the real world, you’d have a more substantial gun, though the platform would look professional as well. • Neat and visually appealing construction: Yes—though each iteration your work improved—remember that lesson! • Grade and Comments: 29/30 = 97% = A • Explanatory paragraph: 9.5/10 = 95% = A Strong ¶ structure with TS and CS. Great explanation of the significance. A couple of sentence formulation issues. • Total: 94.5/100 = 94.5% = A Great final effort, Student! You fulfilled the assignment and then some!
