  1. Going Deeper with the Holy Spirit Tomorrow night, 7:00 Night of Worship Next Monday, 7:00 Spiritual Gifts (Sam McVay)

  2. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God (the Father), and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14 I want you to experience: Jesus’ grace God’s love fellowship with the Holy Spirit

  3. We will grow in our relationship (friendship) with the Holy Spirit will grow when we talk to Him, listen to Him, and invite Him to lead us in every area of our lives in one-on-one timeand throughout the day.

  4. What does it look like for a Christian to be in close and healthy fellowship with the Holy Spirit?

  5. AUTOMATIC:Everyone, at the moment they put their faith in Jesus, receivesthe Holy Spirit and is baptizedby the Holy Spirit. receive the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9, Eph. 1:13-14) baptized by the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:5, 1 Cor. 12:13) NOT AUTOMATIC:God tells Christians to be filled with, walk by, and be led by the Holy Spirit. Christians may or may not be filled…, walk by… or be led by the Spirit. filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18) walk by the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16) led by the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:18)

  6. “Don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless actions, but be filled by the Spirit, which leads to….” Ephesians 5:18 Being “filled” = being “controlled” Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not us getting more of the Holy Spirit; it’s the Holy Spirit getting more of us.

  7. 18 And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless actions, but be filled by the Spirit: 19 speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music from your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of Christ. Ephesians 5:18-21

  8. Four results of being filled by the Spirit • we speak to one another in • psalms (from the book of Psalms) • hymns (praise; teach doctrine; call to obedience) • spiritual songs (a general term) • we sing to the Lord • singing and making music from our heart to the Lord • We are thankful all the time for everything • We submit to one another “in the fear of Christ.”

  9. What now? • Spend time with the Holy Spirit – dedicated time and throughout the day. • Don’t try to “do better, work harder, be nicer….” • Surrender to the control of the Holy Spirit and let Him do what He does best: • give you a concern for others’ spiritual health • move your heart to sing to the Lord • give you a thankful heart • make “putting others first” a natural way that you live.
