  3. Computer viruses These are small software programmes that are designed to spread from one computer to another and interface with computer operation. A virus can corrupt or delete data on your computer , use your email program to spread it self to another computer or erase on your disc.

  4. Types of viruses • Boot sector viruses • Macro viruses • Companion viruses • Memory resident viruses • Web scripting viruses • Polymorphic viruses

  5. 1) Boot sector viruses These inject the boot sector in your C.D, hard disk etc. Ex.- zorm, nichdangelo etc.

  6. 2) Macro viruses These viruses inject the field created using sum of application. Ex. – relox, babies etc.

  7. 3) Companion viruses They get into the method and accompany the other existing fields and stay as resident type. Ex. :- asimon, terx etc.

  8. 4) Memory resident viruses They usually fix them self inside the computer memory and get activated every time the operating system runs and ends up injecting other operating files. They hide in R.A.M. Ex.:- meve, revndex, nerk-lunry.

  9. 5) Web scripting viruses They mostly originate from the infected file WebPages or browsers and cause undesirable action. Ex.:- front night etc.

  10. 6) Polymorphic viruses They are different inscription using, some algorithm. Every time they infect your computer .These makes it difficult for ant viruses software to locate those using singnuter. Ex.:- narbweg, tuareg etc.
