The CABY (Cosumnes, America, Bear, Yuba) Regional planning initiative began in 2006 with the adoption of the Integrated Regional Water Management Plan (IRWMP) in 2007. This region encompasses four watersheds, defined by the Sierra Nevada to the east and the transition zone to the Central Valley in the west. Notable accomplishments include a $3.1 million Prop 84 implementation grant in 2011 for 16 projects and a planning grant of approximately $650,000 for an IRWM plan update. The CABY effort is ongoing, focusing on organizational needs and regional water resource challenges.
