  2. General information: • The Voivodeship Pedagogical Library in Przemyśl, together with its branches in Jarosław, Przeworsk and Lubaczów, is a public educational institution. In particular, it satisfies the needs of teachers in their self-development and self-education, students preparing for their future profession of a teacher as well as unenrolled students of various educational institutions for teachers. The collection of books in the library can also be used by students of other non-pedagogical faculties, secondary school third-form students, primary and secondary school students and other readers.The library is located on 10-12 J. Śnigurski Street in Przemyśl. • The leading governing body of the library is the Self-government of the PodkarpackieVoivodeship and pedagogical supervision is provided by the Education Superintendent of PodkarpackieVoivodeship. • The library's range of activity includes: • a. the area of the PodkarpackieVoivodeship - for teachers • b. the area of the Jarosław, Lubaczów, Przemyśl, Przeworsk Districts - for other readers • The library's legal basis: • The School Education Act of 7 September 1991 (Dz.U. z 1996 r. Nr 67, poz. 329 with further amendments) • The Act of 26 January 1982 Teacher's Charter ( Dz. U. Nr 97 with further amendments) • The System of Libraries Act of 27 June 1997 ( Dz.U. Nr 85, poz. 539 with further amendments) • The MENiS Directive of 29th April 2003 (Dz.U. Nr 89, poz. 824 ) on the regulations of the public pedagogical libraries • The library's statue

The maintargets and tasks of the library: The main target of the library is to satisfy the needs of teachers in their training and self-development, students preparing for their future profession of a teacher as well as unenrolled students of various educational institutions for teachers. The scope of services provided by the library includes: • collecting, analysing, preserving, storing and providing readers with the access of the library's resources, academic literature, the image and sound recordings and multimedia resources • giving support to information and bibliography searching • inspiring and promoting reading and media education • supporting school libraries in particular in the field of the organization and management of a library • supporting teachers in their didactic classes The library can also: • organize vocational training courses for librarians employed in pedagogical and school libraries • conduct publishing activities • organize and conduct educational and cultural activities in particular open educational classes, library lessons and meetings with authors The details concerning the fulfilment of particular aims and tasks of the library as well as its activity aside from its statue, will be presented to you while visiting all of the organisational units of the library. Here's a brief history of the institution.

The history of library • 3rd March 1952 – founding of the the District Pedagogical Library in Przemyśl • MrFranciszekZajdel – an organizer and the first manager of the library • at the beginning, the book collection consisted of 607 volumes belonging to the Education Inspectorate together with the reference library of the Sub-Inspector of Education and Adults Training • the first entry in the inventory: „Bartekzwycięzca” by Henryk Sienkiewicz (a book from reading list)

The history of library The administrative reform of the country of 1999: • the PrzemyślVoivodeship stops to exists • the library in Przemyśl holds the voivodeship status which is reflected in its name 2004 – the library moves to a new building on 10-12 Jan Śnigurski Street from its previous seat on 33 St. Jan Niepomucyn Street

  9. The 60th anniversary of the library 6th-7th March 2012 – the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Voivodeship Pedagogical Library in Przemyśl

  10. Modern times… • The Association of J. G. PawlikowskiVoivodeship Pedagogical Library in Przemyśl for the Comprehensive Human Development - „Gwalbertówka” The targets of the association are: • widely recognized activity for the development and promotion of the Voivodeship Pedagogical Library in Przemyśl with its branches • taking actions to support the development of nursery schools, schools, educational institutions and organizations • promoting and using modern pedagogical theories and educational methods in educational and cultural institutions • giving equal opportunities to children, young people and adults, including people with special educational needs, the disabled, people affected by social pathologies, people of low social status as well as those originating from ethnic minorities • Staring the cooperation with Adam Mickiewicz Literary Association in order to strengthen the library's activity in its support to awake the passion for the Polish literature and arouse interest in its further in-depth academic study as well as to popularize the latest academic achievements in literature through the organization of public lectures, meetings, sessions and other academic and cultural events as well as inspiring the development of local cultural life.

  11. Currently the Voivodeship Pedagogical Library in Przemyśl is one of the most modern libraries of the PodkarpackieVoivodeship; it has a fully computerized service system (OPAC, ProWeb, electronic ordering, reserving and the extension of documents), ICIM, the aesthetic interior and professional service.
