  2. Tuesday, Feb. 8th • Please write the RULES for SEMICOLONS in your DOL notebook: • Use a semicolon ( ; ) to join two complete sentences about a similar topic. Do NOT add a conjunction (and, but, yet, or, for, so). A complete sentence has a subject and a verb. • Ex) Correct: Jana is on a swim team; she practices at a nearby pool. • Incorrect: Jana is on a swim team; her uncle lives in Nebraska. • Place the semicolon after the last word of the first thought, then place the second complete thought a space after the semicolon.

  3. Wednesday, Feb. 9th Use yesterday’s notes. Rewrite the sentences placing a semicolon where needed. • They have a new puppy he is a German shepherd. • Lana and I saw lambs on the farm we petted them. • I can’t find my pen its blue with red polka dots. • Lee is a teacher he works for ASFG. • Their mom is a good baker she makes chewy cookies.

  4. Thursday, Feb. 10th Use yesterday’s notes. Rewrite the sentences placing a semicolon where needed. If the ideas are about different topics, write “different topics”. • We eat spaghetti on Wednesday I like to watch movies. • My family rescued the puppy my mom found her on the street. • You should eat vegetables every day most people don’t eat enough of the dark green and orange vegetables. • John is a dentist he likes to golf.
