  1. a projection for a second store

  2. Crown Pawn was founded in 1995 by Mike Katsanevas in Salt Lake City, Utah. Starting with a meager-sized shop, Crown grew exponentially in 2010. The shop space expanded from a few thousand square feet to approximately 12,000 square feet.

  3. Crown has a thriving workforce whose customer service is unmatched

  4. in what was thought of as a "sketchy" industry.

  5. As a consequence, volume is at an all-time high. With increasing numbers space is decreasing.

  6. This map is a projection for a potential second store. The objective is to: geo-locate prime parcels within Salt Lake County that are 6,500-10,000 square feet in size. Also, a location that better serves a populous in regards to convenience.

  7. The data was laid out with some key factors in mind. First, know where your competition is located. So every pawn shop in Salt Lake County was geo-referenced and labeled.

  8. Second, a 2 mile buffer was created for every existing pawn shop as a zone to not buy in.

  9. Third, geo-code available parcels for sale. Weed out locations that fall in the 2 mile buffer of existing shops.

  10. The data has manifested that consumer volume has a direct correlation with the proximity of the store. One could argue that Crown could open anywhere and the customer would follow. In this case, Crown's presence is heavy in North Salt Lake County. The parcel data suggests that opening a second store in South Salt Lake County would be an optimal location. It would also decrease the travel time for customers that reside in this region.
