  3. Who Has Power Positive sources of Power • People in a position of authority have power • The queen • Police • governments and councils • Teachers • Parents Negative sources of Power • Bullies • Gangs • Police (the use of power in a bad way)

  4. What Has/Gives Power • Job status • Money • Media • Control • Electricity (literal terms) • The ability to influence

  5. Potential ideas for Power Artefact • Power of Light - How light has power, taking power into a literal meaning and exploring electricity. • Power of positive thinking. This would be difficult to portray, could potentially have 2 similar scenarios, where the results are different due to one scenario being for positive thinking, and one a result of negative thinking. • Being powerless. Taking a negative response to power.

  6. Research I met a man named Steve who doesn’t like what the government spend our taxes on so actively works the bare minimum so he doesn’t have to pay taxes. Talking to this man let me realise that you yourself can be powerful and make a stand against higher powers. If things seem beyond your control, bring them into your control. Flip the powers.

  7. La Rabbia - Pasolini • Has a similar style of film that I want to create. Poem with matching film to each line. I’ve used still images.

Analysis The 5 Obstructions- I rather enjoyed watching these pieces as I took it as experimental film branching from The Perfect Human. The first one where it almost looks like stop motion, has the obstruction of a 1/2 second limit. I think this was an effective use of film, and felt abstract and I found myself content on watching more, compared to how I felt when watching the original. I also enjoyed watching the 4th obstruction where the obstruction was to recreate the movie in a cartoon style. Out of all five obstructions I found this easiest and most comfortable to watch as I enjoyed the narration and use of image. the bold colours, and use of white against black was mesmerizing. It felt almost as like I was watching a trailer for a game with the ending missing. Having watched the five obstructions, I find it easier to watch the perfect human again, this is because I can now relate to the original as a base film, to which experiments have been drawn from. Its quite amazing to see how genre, style, theme can all change just by having an obstruction. It shows that if you change one thing in a film you, yourself, produce, it can change the whole meaning.

  9. The Artefact My Artefact will be about feeling powerless. The idea ricocheted from when I met Steve and how empowered I felt to know that an individual can change their lifestyle regardless of restrictions. So in response I want to do the emotion of feeling powerless, and feeling there’s no way around but to follow the path everyone else is. Don’t stray from the herd no matter how much you disagree with politics and governments and authority

  12. Evaluation, Reflection & Conclusion • I’m pleased with the outcome of my video as it got quite a response from those that viewed it. I think my technical skills let me down, and if I were to fix this video up, Id like to add more images. I think the pace of the middle of the video wasn’t quick enough and there weren’t enough images, and come to think of it, I could potentially get images that would relate better. the first third and the last third I think came across really well as the images for those sections had a sort of spotlight feel. I’d like to make it more consistent. • Another technical issue I would change if I were to re-do this I’d also fix the sound. I had a lot of problems with the sound as the original format I had recorded with wasn’t supported on the software I was recording with, I had to improvise and managed to record the sound straight onto the computer. I would re-record in a high quality format and re-edit. • I think the non technical side of the video was done well and overall I think I am happy with this artefact.
