The CLIC parameters revisited(tentative and provocative!)J.P.Delahaye 09/09/00 Introduction After 15 years of R&D on the CLIC scheme and about 5 years before a conceptual design is issued (consistent with possible decisions in 2008), it is the right moment to critically review the CLIC parameters in order to: • better adapt them to the Physics needs, • make them as realistic as possible for a construction in a reasonable amount of time, taking into account what has been learned during the past 15 years of R&D and in the two stages of Test Facilities (CTF1 and CTF2), • better define the parameters of the new series of prototypes which will have to be started soon as they could significantly influence their design. The present paper is meant to be provocative in order to launch the discussion within the CLIC accelerator design team as well as with the CLIC Physics study group in order to choose parameters which does not make the design unnecessarily difficult and/or with unrealistic challenges.
