  1. Healthy gums for a healthy mouth! Healthy gums for a healthy mouth! Unlike tooth decay, gum infection is painless. This is the reason why many people can’t tell when the health of their gum starts degrading. Gum disease starts with plaque, building under and along the gum line. Plaque is a sticky film containing bacteria that causes infection and gum disease eventually. This bacteria-filled film leads to gingivitis, the earliest stage of gum disease. If not treated early, this situation might aggravate and end up in chronic dental issues. However, since gum diseases don’t have much impact on the bone and tissues holding the teeth the damage is reversible. Symptoms for gingivitis include – 1.Inflamed and tender gum 2.Red and swollen gum 3.Gum prone to bleeding 4.Soreness in the mouth and around the gums The next stage of gingivitis is periodontitis, an advanced form of gum disease. This issue damages bones and tissues if left untreated. The final stage is advanced periodontitis-this is when fiber and bones supporting teeth are decayed. In this stage, the chances for teeth removal get higher in order to prevent the infection.

  2. Symptoms that you might have a gum-problem Consider the following points to establish if or not you have gum disease, however, please bear in mind that this is highly preventable. 1.If you feel consistent bad breath and taste in your mouth 2.If you can feel you have loose or separating teeth 3.If your gum bleeds frequently 4.If you have swollen, red, or tender gum 5.If your gum is pulled away from teeth Gum bleeding: What does it mean? While bleeding gum is the most common symptom of gum disease, it doesn’t only limit itself to oral health. Bleeding gum might indicate other health problems such as leukemia (cancer of the blood), vitamin deficiency, and lack of clotting cells (platelets). Bleeding of the gums might be a result of vigorous brushing or wearing dentures that don’t fit correctly. This is more likely when people wear tight dentures. A good suggestion here would be to visit your dentist if oral appliances are causing your gum to bleed. Another common reason for gum bleeding is pregnancy. Gums tend to get more sensitive due to hormonal changes. Bleeding disorders like hemophilia and leukemia also increases chances for your gum to bleed. Blood- thinning medication can also cause your gum to bleed. Drugs in this class involve heparin, warfarin, and aspirin. Tips to maintain good oral health There are cases when few people need to pay extra attention to maintain good oral health, however, in general, everyone should practice good oral hygiene to prevent gum disease. Here are a few tips to prevent bleeding gum: 1.A thorough dental cleaning at home. 2.Visit your dentist one to two times a year for a thorough mouth checkup. 3.Brush your teeth with a fluoride toothpaste a minimum twice a day. 4.Floss at least once per day. 5.Replace your toothbrush or toothbrush head every three to four months. 6.Brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen your breath. 7.Some people will benefit from fluoride treatments and mouth rinses. Pay attention to your oral health and schedule an additional visit to your dentist if you notice any of the following: 1.red, swollen gums, or gums that bleed 2.extreme sensitivity to hot or cold 3.difficulty chewing 4.persistent bad breath 5.a loose permanent tooth 6.a persistent toothache 7.an abscess

  3. Takeaway The first step towards managing bleeding gums is maintaining good dental hygiene. A dentist home visit is a perfect substitute for your visit to the clinic. This is particularly beneficial in the case of elder patients. The dentist can help you find whether or not you have gingivitis and suggest an ideal way to brush your teeth. One can prevent the risk of developing periodontal disease by proper brushing and flossing and removing plaque from your gum line. On your visit to the dentist, you might be suggested to use an antiseptic mouthwash to minimize plaque that forms in your mouth. He might just ask you to rinse your mouth with a glass of warm water and salt to soothe swollen gums that bleed easily. The use of a soft toothbrush can help you to prevent caused when brushed aggressively. Medium and hard bristles may be too abrasive for your delicate gums. For a better result, you can consider switching to an electric toothbrush with specially designed brush heads that can clean your gum line more easily than the manual toothbrush.
