  1. Simple Ways to Prevent Toothaches

  2. Ways to Prevent Toothaches • Anyone can experience toothaches. The pain can range from mild to severe and be intermittent or constant. Toothache causes also vary. • But, in general, having a sore tooth can indicate a dental issue. It is important to remedy your toothache before it gets worse. • Let your dentist know if there's discomfort or pain in your mouth so they can identify the exact cause and recommend appropriate treatments.

  3. Toothaches Can Be Common, But They're Also Preventable. Here Are Simple Ways To Prevent Toothaches:

  4. Brush Teeth Regularly • Brushing teeth regularly helps keep debris out of the mouth. Deposits that linger on spaces between teeth can cause plaque buildup and lead to decay when not removed. • Decay is a common cause of toothaches. Be sure to brush your teeth at least twice a day, for around two minutes per session. • Avoid brushing right after a meal, though, as the enamel is still soft and vulnerable to erosion.

  5. Address Tooth Sensitivity • The soreness may also be due to heightened sensitivity. Sensitive teeth can be due to exposed nerves from receding gums or thinning enamel. • The pain often occurs when your teeth are exposed to sudden changes in temperature. • There are other possible reasons for sensitive teeth, so be sure to see your dentist for a checkup.

  6. Floss Daily • Aside from regular brushing, be sure to floss daily as well. Flossing removes debris that the toothbrush cannot reach. • Deposits can accumulate along the gum line and between teeth and eventually cause toothaches. Flossing helps keep the teeth clean and prevents gum disease. • While waiting to see your dentist, inspect your teeth for debris that may have been stuck in tight spaces and remove them through flossing.

  7. Apply Dental Sealants • Talk to your dentist about applying dental sealants to your molars. • Sealants are clear plastic coatings that cover tooth surfaces and keep debris from penetrating teeth. • They help prevent plaque buildup and cavities. Getting molars sealed, coupled with good oral hygiene habits, can help you avoid toothaches for a long period.

  8. Drink Water More Often • Some people aren't into plain water. But if you're often experiencing toothaches, it helps to increase your daily water intake. • Your choice of food and beverage can contribute to your toothache. • Water can help stimulate salivary flow, remove debris on teeth, slow down plaque buildup, and reduce soreness in your teeth.

  9. Don't let toothaches keep you from making the most of your everyday life. • Boost your dental hygiene routine and keep up with your dental appointments. • And let your dentist know if your dental concerns or anxieties are keeping you from visiting.
