  2. How do you keep your teeth healthy for a lifetime? Proper brushing and flossing are key but it takes more than that. Here are few more tips to keeping your mouth and teeth healthy.

  3. Look Into Your Habits. • Monitor what you eat along with medications you're taking and your everyday habits, and then see how all these affect your oral health. Do you often experience dry mouth? Do you find it harder to clean your teeth? Do you notice fast build-up of cavities? • Note that cigarette smoking can also leave stains on your teeth, cause bad breath, and increase the risk of tooth decay along with other oral diseases. • Consult your dentist about your everyday oral practices so you can be given recommendations which routine could be more effective for you.

  4. Brush And Floss Daily. • Toothpaste and mouthwash contain fluoride that helps fight off decay. Make sure to brush your teeth at least twice a day. Most important, make sure that you brush your teeth properly.   • Proper brushing and flossing effectively remove dirt from your teeth, preventing bacteria or plaque from building up on your teeth. If not removed, plaque can turn sugar into acids that in turn will lead to tooth decay. • Also, once plaque hardens, removal will be harder. You'd have no choice but to set an appointment with your dentist for dental cleaning.  Carry with you a mouthwash most especially if you're always on the go and brushing your teeth may be a struggle for you.

  5. Watch What You Eat. • After eating, food particles lodge in and around your teeth. When not removed immediately, these food particles feed bacteria that cause plaque and acid buildup. • Food that is high in sugar also expose your teeth to harmful acids that can damage the surface the tooth surface teeth. • Apart from maintaining a balanced diet, make sure too to brush your teeth after every meal.  Sufficient vitamins and minerals not only benefit your oral health, but your overall health as well.

  6. Check Your Mouth. • You meet with your dentist only a few times every year but you get to see your mouth and teeth every single day. • Look out for any changes and coordinate with your dentist should you find anything that might be of concern. Don't forget visiting your dentist regularly more so if you are wearing braces. • Investing in oral health is investing in overall health. Remember that preventive maintenance is your best defense.
