National Athletic Trainer’s Association • Founded in 1950 • To enhance the quality of health care for athletes and those engaged in physical activity, and to advance the profession of athletic training through education and research in the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries • The NATA now has 28,000 members • Set standards and ethics for the profession • Athletic Training viewed as an allied health profession by AMA

Responsibilities of the Coach • Ensures athletes have undergone conditioning program • Protective equipment is maintained and reconditioned • Aware of injuries of players • CPR & First Aid Certified • Environmental Factors as they effect physical activity • Proper techniques of physical skills (throwing & running).
