  2. 6 key messages on services standardization • Need for European standards on services; • Competitive service industries (also SMEs); • Consumers and users: Transparency & quality; • CEN System: Internal market for services; • ISO: Link with the international markets; • Completing the EU legal framework.

  3. 1 The need for European standards on services • Comply with customer requirements, or beyond; • Address market trends / market needs; • Differentiation in the market; • Prevent unfair competition; • Increase market credibility; • Arrange the activity in a sector; • Lack of specific professional qualifications; • Support public policies or legislation; • Other. Leadership: service provider industry. Participation: customers & other interested parties

  4. 2 Increasing competitiveness (also for SMEs) European standards for services: • Facilitate market differentiation; • Establish & disseminate provision requirements; • Minimise the risk of private specifications.
