  2. What are Suffixes? Suffixes are a way to make words larger. Suffixes • Are not words • Come at the end of root words • Have meaning • Cannot be used alone

  3. Here some examples.

  4. Ful • The suffix ful means full of something. I am hopeful that we will gooutside for recess.

  5. Less The suffix less means without. I was very careless when I completed my homework, so I had to do it again.

  6. Ly The suffix ly means in some way. Be lat ker be is friendly.

  7. est The suffix est is used to compare. My brother is the biggest in my family.

  8. The prefix un means not. • My shoe is untied.
