Professional Development • Met: 3/30/12 • Update: Data is a critical determinant to the type of PD that should be offered; the greatest professional development needs can be determined by an analysis of student results.  Benchmark assessments can help teachers to determine teaching and re-teaching priorities. PD must be specific to the needs of teachers, and consistency with the PD that is offers has a greater impact.   Staff must be continually supported as they deal with changes occurring in the building and follow through needs to be a priority. • Amy Falcinelli • Barb Boland • Alana Groth • Gina Terzini • Jordan Weismore

Positive Behavior Supports and Interventions • Evaluate and improve the current PBIS plan, • Monitor plan and implementation, • Maintain, and communicate with staff, data that is directly related to student behavior. The dress code powerpoint was reviewed and evaluated for presentations in classes.   11. Curriculum Implementation • Next meeting: 4/23/12 • Update: We will be accepting feedback from all members of the faculty and staff regarding curriculum. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please contact any member of the committee via e-mail, flyer, or other means. We meet in room 228.   12. Master Schedule • Identify curriculum needs through the use of student data, • Identify staffing needs, • Develop the master schedule. Department Chairs

  14. English Language Learners • Next Meeting: 4/20/12 • Update: The ELL Task Force is currently documenting the program that we have been implementing for this population. Two members of the task force (Suzanne Detore and Jackie Socia) will go to Fowler and possibly Nottingham to investigate ways that their programs are implemented. Special Education • Determine current status of special education programs: define Special Education Services, • Research and identify effective special education programming that should be implemented at Henninger, • Design and align the special education program with the core curriculum and IDEA. Special Education • Next meeting: 4/16/12 • Update: To the current continuum, we would like to possibly add Collaborative Team Teaching, and a Special Ed service between the 12:1:1 Special Class and 15:1 Prioritized Curriculum class. We are looking at the Resource program and how best to service these students to pass Regents and RCT exams. 12:1:1 students will need to earn credit due to the ruling that the IEP Diploma will no longer be available after June of 2013.   18. Instructional Data • Next meeting: 4/23/12 • Update: We are currently redesigning the benchmark data analysis forms and revising the data meeting process. The form should be more user-friendly, visual and a true progress-monitoring tool. We envision data meetings that are less evaluative and more diagnostic. What we’re doing this year and beyond: ~Combating Bullying: Library display case Day of Silence: T-shirts and rainbow ribbons for staff and students PowerPoint presentation for students (social studies teachers) Speaking cards for students taking vow of silence ~Improving Parent Involvement Collaborating with the PTO Developing a resource for parents on all information they need about 9th grade-college Assisting with the after prom party OUR MISSION:Our mission is to create a building wide community of tolerance, dignity, pride and acceptance of all individuals (Academic, Athletic and beyond}.   21. NATIONAL DAY OF SILENCE April 20, 2012

  22. What is it? The National Day of Silence is a day of action in which students across the country vow to take a form of silence to call attention to the silencing effect of anti-Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered bullying and harassment in schools. The goal of the Day of Silence is to make schools safer for all students, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.

Our Role in National Day of Silence On Friday April 20th, students and staff will have the opportunity to show their support by: Wearing rainbow ribbons which will be distributed by Student Council members and GSA members during lunches on Thursday April 19th Wearing t-shirts which will be sold during the week of April 20th Taking a vow of silence; students who wish to remain silent for the day on April 20th will be given a card to wear which will let others know why they are not speaking for the day.

  29. Crisis Management • Next Meeting: 4/23/12 • Update: The Crisis Management Team has redesigned the handbook that will be used for any crisis events. The handbook will be distributed at a faculty meeting. The task force discussed various ways that crises should be handled, especially lock-down situations. The team will plan at least two lock down drills before the end of this school year.   33. On Track • Next Meeting: 4/20/12 • Update: On Track is investigating ways to implement our mission statement and achieve our vision. We seek to strike a balance between what is required of students by the State and our desire to promote mastery of content and skills. We believe expanding the adoption list to other cohorts and providing specific training on mentoring techniques will build on student-student and teacher-student relationships.
