  3. Man • Made in the image of God • Lonely, No suitable helper • Made from the dust. Breath of life • Woman. Made from the rib of Adam • Sexism • Crooked bone • Man made first • Woman made to help man.

  4. Temptation • The Tree of Knowledge • Knowledge is valuable and dangerous • Knowledge is godly • The Tree provides “free will”. • The Serpent • Half truths • Eve ate • Eve gave to Adam • Nakedness. Shame.

  5. The Curse • Serpent • On his belly and be the enemy of man • Man • Hard labor • The ground will resist you • Woman • Pain in child birth • The man will rule over you. • You will still want to have sex with him. • Kicked out of Eden. Paradise Lost.

  6. Cain and Abel • Pattern of 2 sons established • One good….One bad. • God prefered Abel’s offering…don’t really know why. • Jealousy • Cain kills Abel. • Am I my brother’s keeper? • Mark of Cain. “So that the others will not kill him.”

  7. Noah • Many years later. • All the earth was wicked and God regretted his creation. • Noah and his family were the only righteous people. • Build an Ark. 2 of every kind. • 40 days and 40 nights. • The earth is destroyed.

  8. Post Flood • Noah sends out a Raven….nothing. • Noah sends out a Dove. Olive branch. • Rainbow • Noah plants an orchard. • Gets drunk and naked. • Good son. Bad son. • The world is again divided between God’s favored and those “damned.”

  9. The Tower of Babel • Quit your “babling….” • Man decided to build a tower. • To equal God. Arrogance. • To escape the “next flood.” Jewish oral tradition. • God scattered the people and confused their languages. • Cultures. Peoples. Languages.

  10. Abram….Abraham • Abram was chosen to leave that place and go to the land I will show you. • Abram and his wife Sarai leave. Egypt. • Anti Egypt story…. • Some war, some land disputes…. • Bastard children…. • Then when he was 99 years old….

  11. The First Covenant • Abram becomes Abraham • The father of the Jewish Nation • Increase and multiply • I give you all the land before you. • Circumcision • On the 8th day. • Sons and slaves. • Sarah laughs at the thought of having a child. • Isaac

  12. Sodom and Gomorrah • “Sodomy” • Evil and wicked cities. • Two angles arrive and Lot houses them • Crowds surround the house • Give them to us so we can have sex with them. • Offers them his two virgin daughters. • Angels make the crowd blind. • Escape • Don’t look back. Lot’s wife turns to a pillar of salt.

  13. A series of Fathers and Sons • Isaac • Jacob • Jospeh • Fresh start….bad decisions…punishment. Start over…..
