  2. DDR Program Mission Civil Air Patrol DDR program assists regions, wings, groups, and squadrons to instill an aggressive, positive, drug-free attitude in CAP members, AF families, DoD civilians and school-age children through a comprehensive program.

  3. DDR Program Structure • Program Elements: - Education and Training - School Enrichment Program - Community Outreach • Governed by CAPR 51-1 • Funded by Air Force SG - 2006: $420K/$307.6 (73.2%, field) - 30 mile radius & DDR Nexus

  4. Education and Training • Increases knowledge and awareness of drug abuse/use • Provide substance abuse information and classes • Support eligible units with training materials • Biennial Regional Conferences • Portable displays to share the message

  5. School Enrichment Program • Focuses on drug-free life style while developing students’ potential • Fills the void after elementary school (DARE) • Starts in 1st grade and can continue thru 12th grade • Conducted during or after school • Allows CAP participation in both school and local (host) squadrons

Community Outreach • Partners cadets with base and local activities to support anti-drug activities • Assist in selected community projects: • Red Ribbon Week Campaign • Drug Education for Youth (DEFY) • Military youth and teen programs • Family Community Centers • Community Health Fairs • Base-sponsored community activities

  8. AF Surgeon General • Supports President’s National Drug Control Strategy • Sole AF Demand Reduction Program for AF families • Approved adding Assistant Program Manager position to support program growth • Maintained/increased program funding during fiscally constrained environment

  9. Civil Air Patrol • Fosters drug free environment & enables higher protective factors • Supports FY 07 Business Plan’s long-term objectives 1, 2, and 4 • Aids recruiting and retention

  10. DDR Program Initiatives • Validate new budget/funding process • Update End-of-Year Report metrics • Increase 30-mile radius (ongoing) • Implement DDR Specialty Track (approved by NB) • Enhance educational elements

  11. DDR Program Initiatives • Conduct “Communities That Care” Survey (in progress) • Develop a CAP specific survey with AUM (no cost) • Launch DDR Newsletter (magnet mail) • Conduct biannual strategy sessions with CAP Director of DDR & DDRCs
