  6. Morning Care • Morning Care for early drop-off begins at 6:30 a.m. • Sign up with our After-School vendor, Champions (on website)

  7. School Day: Early Morning • Breakfast & Drop Off begin at 7:15 a.m. • Parents Drop-Off at Car Line • Scholars walk to cafeteria until 7:45 am (when classrooms open) • Staff escort scholars who need assistance

  8. School Day: Early Morning • Main Office Opens at 7:30 a.m. • Parents may check-in at main office for pre-arranged teacher appointments • Class Begins at 8:00 a.m. (tardy at 8:01) • Parents must sign-in late scholars in Office

  9. Dismissal • Lower School - 3pm / Upper School - 4pm • Pick-up from Car-Line (even walk-ups) • Pick up Adult MUST have Car-Line # • Otherwise, must come into office

  10. Early Dismissal • Requires Advance Notice • Please set-up appointments near end of school day • Check out prior to 11:30 a.m. = 1 Absence • Pick-up at car line if regular dismissal starts

  11. Late Dismissal • Late Fees begin 30 minutes after dismissal time • $1 per minute starting at the 31st minute • Parents pick up from main office to pay fee • Repeated late pick-ups  Parents have to enroll in Champions after-school program

  12. Sibling Care • For Lower School Scholars with Upper School Siblings • Available from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. • Parents must register with homeroom teacher • Behavior Issues  Removal from Sibling Care

  13. After Care / Afterschool Programs • Champions (vendor) - fee-based (3–6 pm) • Sign up on our website • Sports and Clubs on selected days • Behavior problems  Permanent removal • Late fees apply to After School pick-up

  15. Attendance • Five unexcused absences is considered Truant by state policy • Parents must submit documents in order to excuse absences • Bottom Line: Attendance is a state focus

  16. Tardy Policy • 3 Tardy Instances = 1 Absence • 15 Tardy Instances = Truancy Referral • Arrival After 11:30 = 1 Absence • 9 Tardy Instances = No Perfect Attendance

  17. Withdrawals & Re-enrollment • Withdrawals are processed within 72 hours • Returning parents MUST submit a Letter of Intent to keep their scholar’s seat • An application must be submitted for a sibling enrolling for first time.

  19. Health and Nutrition • National School Lunch/Breakfast Program • Breakfast – 7:15 to 7:45 a.m. (~ $1.55 per) • Lunch: Roughly 30 minutes (~ $3.10 per) • Menus and Payments are On-Line • Service/Meals provided by vendor (SLA)

  20. Lunch Program: Federal Requirements • 2 Entrees (and special requests in advance) • Fruits and Vegetables (Legumes, dark green, red, or orange) must be offered and taken • All grains must be whole grains • Minimize sodium and saturated fat • 1% or Fat-Free Milk

Health/Nutrition: Genesis Allowed Foods • Drinks – 100% Fruit-Juice, Water, Sports Drink • Clear Water Bottles Only • Chips – Baked, Plain Tortilla, Sun-Chips, Pop-Chips • 1.5 oz (or less) bag size • Sweets – Fruit, Dried Fruit, Dark Chocolate • Baked Goods – Bakery or Homemade • Not processed/packaged; one serving

  22. Health and Nutrition: Foods Not Allowed • Genesis Reserves the Right to Confiscate Foods that are Considered Junk Food • Food will be returned to parents when possible

  24. Health and Nutrition: General • Fill our form for scholars with food allergies • Students are not allowed to use microwaves • Outside food must be in lunch box or in unmarked “lunch bag” • Scholars not allowed to eat/drink outside of cafeteria without permission (except water)

  25. Health and Nutrition: Birthday Parties • Monthly Birthday Celebrations (20 min.) • Coordinated by Parents / Teacher Approved • Allowable treats for each child; parent permission • No “goodie-bags”, balloons, or decorations

  26. Health and Nutrition: Parent Homework • HOMEWORK • Fill out Free Lunch Form (All Parents) • Vision, hearing, Immunizations up to date • Ensure scholar gets 9 hours sleep or more

  28. Family Involvement: Observations • Set up appointment with classroom teacher • Must check in at Main Office • Must always be supervised by staff member • Not a time for discussion with teacher

Family Involvement: Conferences • Genesis has Pre-Set Quarterly Conference Dates • If desired, parents may set up additional appointment with teacher • Scholar is expected to be in conference • Note: Upper School teacher = 120 scholars • May be difficult for teachers to have multiple conferences with same family each quarter

  30. Family Involvement: Communication • E-mail is primary formal communication • Staff should return response in 48 hours • Teachers also use communication apps • For Assignments and Behavior

  31. Family Involvement: Communication • Power School for grade progress & assignments • Teachers required to enter assignments and grades into Power School • Teachers are not required to pro-actively communicate about work or grades outside of Power School • Scholars get Quarterly Grade Reports

  32. Family: Volunteer Requirements • 20 hours per family (log time to get credit) • Participate in all schoolwide fundraising

  33. Family Involvement: Volunteering • Volunteer Options • Room Parent (Trips logistics, Filing, etc.) • Operations: Office Help, Event Set-up • Chaperones & Monitors (Car-Line, Trips, etc.) • Club & Activity Sponsors / Coaches • Parent Support or Board Committees

  35. Academic Excellence: Recognition • Year End Academic Recognition • Academic Honor Lists • Top Scholars in Course/Subject • Milestone Top Performers • Scholars must meet the standard

  36. Academic Excellence: Grade Policy • Independent Assessments (Tests, Quizzes, Independent Work) & Projects will count most • Homework is mostly for “Effort grade” • Homework is for scholars not parents • Late Work is reduced 10 points per day • Don’t Expect Make-up Work or Extra Credit

Academic Excellence: Promotion Policy • Promotion Requires Scholars to score: • 70 or above in core classes/subjects • At grade level on Milestones Tests (Grades 3, 5, 8) • Don’t Expect Make-up Work or Extra Credit • If Scholar Recommended for Retention: • Possible Summer Credit Recovery • Parent Meeting & Academic Success Plan

Academic Excellence: Parent Commitment • Check Agenda / Bag / Homework Every Day • Check Power School Regularly • Cordially direct questions to faculty and staff • Promote educational songs, games, videos, apps at home, in the car, etc. • Ensure scholar always has a book to read • Drill scholar on math basics & ask to solve verbal problems

  39. Discipline - Systematic instruction given to disciples to train them as students in the performance of an activity, or to follow a particular code of conduct or "order". DISCIPLINE

  40. Values and CharacterParent Commitment: • Constantly teach and remind child about values of your faith / belief system • Do not accept excuses for poor behavior • Practice what you preach!! • Our children pay more attention to what we do than what we say

  41. Supplies and Organization • Parent Commitment: • Make sure scholar has adequate supplies (i.e. more than one pencil) • Check book-bags and binders daily for supplies and organization of work • Check that uniform meets expectations

  42. Uniform Requirements: Family Commitment • Purchase Required Items from Vendor • If scholar not in uniform: • Parent will have to bring uniform items • Present receipt indicating order is placed • Scholar will change into loaner uniform items

  43. Uniform Requirements:Boys’ Parent Commitment • Remove/Do Not Wear Earrings or Necklaces • Comb/Brush Hair; Straight part or no part • Even, neat hair styles (other styles need approval) • Pants at waist, shirt tucked, belt • Upper School: Tie, All-black shoes, socks, and belt

  44. Uniform Requirements:Girls’ Parent Commitment • No Make-up / Modest Earrings & Jewelry • No unnatural hair color • Dress down: No rips or tears in clothes • Shoes: • Lower school /Upper dress down – black, blue, gray, white • Upper school Class A – All black

Behavior: Level I ViolationsGenesis “Sweats the Small Stuff” • Disruptions • Talking, Whining, Horseplay • Cell Phone Use • Disorganization • Out of uniform / Messy Uniform • Messy/Incomplete homework • Leaving personal items laying around • Being late to school/class • Disorganized binders, lockers, book-bags • No pen, pencil, or paper

  46. Behavior: Level I Violations – Cell Phones • Allowed in bookbag in off position • Not in pocket; not on vibrate or silent • Allowed out with teacher/staff permission. Period. • Parents not allowed to call and text during school day

  47. Behavior: Level I Violations – Cell Phones • Violation of permission expectations: • Confiscation, Fine, or Loss of Privilege • Best Practice: Do not send • Cell Phone Watches not allowed

Level 1 Discipline Options: Phase 1 • Redirection • Change Seats Assignments • Behavior Assignment (sentences, essay, etc.) • Time-Out (in class, out of class) • Silent Lunch • Loss of Privileges • Behavior Contract * Parents will be updated on scholar behavior through Class-Dojo or Behavior Logs

Rules Violations: Level II • Disrespect Adults: • Lying, Talking back, Sucking teeth • Not following directions; Bad or demeaning language • Disrespect Peers • Unwanted Name Calling / Teasing • Pushing / Shoving • Disrespect School/Property • Eating in undesignated areas • Repeated lower point violations
