  6. Infinite Campus • Once you are in the Infinite Campus portal, you will be able to gain to access to: • Letter Grades • CATSkills • Ongoing work status (missing or incomplete) • Lunch Accounts • Attendance - Absences and Tardies • If you have not had access to Infinite Campus in the past, please provide your information as you leave this session. • If you have accessed Infinite Campus in the past, but no longer have your password, please provide your information so that a temporary password can be sent to you.

  7. Contacting Teachers • Encourage your child to contact their teacher with any questions they may have before you contact the teacher. Hopefully this will help the students take ownership of their own learning. • If extra clarification is needed, email contact is often the best way to contact your child’s teacher. (Email addresses can be found at www.carlislecsd.org)

  8. Materials for Classes 6th Grade Students will need to bring the following items to all classes: • Pencils (if parents would like to donate pencils, please feel free throughout the year!) • Pen • Free reading book • Specific folder for each class (organized by color) • Handbooks (used for CATSkills, school expectations, WIN assignments, and passes) Students are graded on coming to class prepared as a part of our CATSkills

  9. Materials for Classes Certain classes may also require students to bring other materials: • Notebooks • Binders • Specific Items (colored pencils, scissors, etc.) will be communicated in advance and posted in the hallway • Math (textbook) Textbooks for most classes are kept in that specific classroom (except math)

  10. Materials for Classes Items not needed without being told by teacher: • Cell Phone • Backpack • Headphones

  11. Grades at Carlisle Middle School CMS has a letter grade system that is outlined below. • 20% Formative: • Homework • Quizzes • In-class work • Smaller projects to check for understanding. • 80% Summative: • Unit Test • Unit Projects • Other Unit Assessments

  12. Grades at Carlisle Middle School

  13. Report Cards at Carlisle Middle School Report cards will be mailed out quarterly (every 9 weeks) for a total of 4 times. On that report card, you will see your child’s letter grade and a spot for the CATSkills.

  14. CATSkills

  15. Make-Up Policy • Students have 2 days (per each day gone) to make up the work that they missed. • It is the responsibility of the student to communicate with their teachers to see what work/lessons/etc. they missed. • All planned absences should be communicated in advance with the office.

  16. Late Work • Students can turn in late assignments, without penalty, until the end of that specific unit • Students who are missing assignments are subject to before/after school sessions with their teachers, tutorial during WIN time, etc.

  17. Extra Credit/Retakes Extra credit will not be given in the middle school. Teachers may add a bonus question that is related to the unit that shows exemplary skills. This bonus question will not count against any student, but will allow a student to potentially increase their grade on the assessment. Even though extra credit is not given, all students are able to correct/retake formative and summative assessments for 100% credit. Formative assessments must be corrected/retaken before the summative assessment of that unit.

  18. Incomplete Grades If your child has not completed a formative or summative item for a grade, the teacher will input an “I” into the gradebook. This “I” represents an incomplete. Once an incomplete grade is given, you will no longer be able to see your child’s letter grade for that class on Infinite Campus until that assignment/project is completed. This is to help you as a parent know when your child has not turned something in.

  19. WIN • WIN time is time embedded into the regular school day. • During this time, teachers have the opportunity to connect with students who may be struggling with a concept covered in class. • Students are able to take advantage of this opportunity to learn and to stay current with the class. • Students are notified of their WIN assignments every Thursdays during class.
