  3. Les verbespronominauxReflexive verbs Remember: Verbsare a key part of every sentence in everylanguage. A verbis an action word. Verbswe use to talk about ourdaily routine look a littledifferentfromverbswe have met before. Je me lève – You canseethere are two parts to the verb. This isbecauseitis a reflexiveverb.

  4. Les verbespronominauxReflexive verbs We use reflexiveverbswhen the persondoing the action isdoingit to themselves. Reflexiveverbs use an extra pronoun (called a reflexivepronoun). Je me lève – the reflexivepronounisme.

Les verbespronominauxReflexive verbs The closest English language equivalent is when we use the word ‘myself’ with a verb. • I get (myself) up – Je me lève • I wash (myself) – Je me lave In English we don’t need to use ‘myself’ in these sentences to make sense. In French we need to use me (the reflexive pronoun).
