    1. 9th Grade Teaming Model Cumberland High School Cumberland, RI

    2. Study During 2005-2006 school year a study was conducted to review the dropout rate at Cumberland High School. One of the questions asked was to see if the transition to high school had an impact on the future graduation rate

    3. Findings Approximately 90% (9 of 10) of students who obtained four or more credits during the 9th grade year graduated from CHS. Approximately 50% (5 of 10) of students who obtained 3 ˝ or less credits during the 9th grade year graduated from CHS.

    4. Conclusion A students performance during ninth grade is a strong indicator of future success in high school.

    5. Summer 2008 Two teams were created involving A2 and A1 classes The criteria selected was that the student needed to have the same English, Math, Science, and Social Studies teacher. We were able to team 28% of 9th grade students into two separate teams. (Blue and White)

    7. Goal – Increase Student Achievement among ninth grade students 1. Increase communication between Special and Regular Educators. 2. Decrease the Freshmen Failure Rate 3. Create a more personalized education environment for students.
