Since Severn Sands was established in 1983 by Robert Breen, who still owns and operates the company, they have been supplying sand and aggregates to both builders merchants and the construction industry. Their competitive pricing and customer service have allowed them to expand into the company today they are, operating throughout Newport, Cardiff, Bristol, South East Wales and the valleys They have licences to dredge 500,000 tonnes of sand per annum, using 60m dredger, The Penfret, They supply a majority of the national builders merchants, as well as the construction industry directly. while also using the sand in ready mix concrete operations.

  2. In 2017 they invested in a new vessel, The Penfret, a 60m long dredger with a 962 gross tonnage. This important investment has improved the efficiency of their operations, allowing them to keep up with the ever increasing demands for products. With a crew of 9, The Penfret operates out of Alexandra docks, dredging in the Severn channel.
