  3. What is Insight? It is UNC’s single destination reporting portal. • Reports are created by IT, OBIA, and designated report writers from the Operation Data Store (ODS) which is an extension of Banner using a tool called Web Focus. • Optimizes system without slowing down productivity • ODS is updated nightly (prior day data) • Some critical timing reports will have real time data (e.g. seat counts) • Get more information here: http://www.unco.edu/aboutinsight 3

What does it Provide/Replace? • Providesdata for planning and data driven decision making • Access to budget data • Course information • Student data (class roles, email and addresses) • Advising easier (major & minor info, GPA’s, enrollment and class cap information) • Easy to retrieve data without formal request • Information at your desktop • Replaces existing reporting portals • E-Print reports • Sharepoint/SRT reports • MY UNC reports • XDB requested reports • Nightly batch reports • Does not replace Faculty Dashboard • Used for interactive classes, communication and grades 4

Access??? • All employees with Ursa will have access to the “University“ view reports • Summary level reports with no Personal Identity Information (PII) • High Level Informational reports • All Faculty will have access to the “Academic” view reports • Contains PII data • Operational type reports • Decision making reports • Other views will require a security form • Will require Data Steward signature • See list of views on Insight website • Gives end users access to relevant information while ensuring information security • Security Form • http://www.unco.edu/aboutinsight/pdf/Insight%20Security%20Form%20NEW.pdf • Faxed to Tech Support 5
