Are the SSH in danger? • Low participation in EU fundedresearch, littleincentive to apply, despite vibrant researchfields • The SHS may not be in danger, the EU is, ignoringpotential in favour of short termtechnologicalchimera • The danger of excludingsmallness - countries, institutions, disciplines

  3. Defining the SSH • A wide variety of disciplines with different backgrounds and different needs • Europe's forgotten resource in human knowledge • A vast resource - researchers, students, cultural industries, an educated population
