Clans battled one another for control of resources • Eventually clan gain total control of Japan becoming Emperors • Emperors become weak & are eventually forced to become nothing but a figure head but a Clan’s leader who is named military leader or SHOGUN • Shoguns had the real power over the Emperor & they would rule Japan for 700 years • Daimyos are large landowners under the shoguns control • Samurais are warriors & officials that serve the Emperor, Shogun, & Daimyo
