  1. 【寬頻通訊工業技術研發中心演講公告】 Dr.Peter Vetter Department HeadBell Labs, Research Access Systems Time: Jun. 26, 2013 (3:30 PM ~ 5:00 PM) Place: IB 302 Title: Next Generation Optical Access & Green Network Abstract This talk will provide an update of state of the art and next generation optical access technologies in a tutorial way. We will give an overview of the evolution from today’s GPON and XG-PON1 towards 40Gbit/s aggregate rates using TDM and TWDM. We will describe different approaches to reduce the power consumption in an access network that are under study in GreenTouch. We will discuss how they contribute to the total improvement of the energy efficiency of an access network. Biography Peter Vetter is Department Head for Access Systems in Bell Labs Murray Hill. He received a PhD from Gent University in 1991 and worked as post-doc at Tohoku University, before joining the research centre of Alcatel (now Alcatel-Lucent) in Antwerp in 1993. In 2000, he became co-founder and responsible for PON-technology in an Internal Venture that produced the first FTTH product in Alcatel. He managed various European Research Projects and is currently leading the wireline access activities in GreenTouch. He and his team have been at the forefront of many generations of PON since BPON in the nineties and realized several world-first demonstrations such as SuperPON, XG-PON2, and Bi-PON. During his career, he has been interested in liquid crystal displays, optical interconnections, optical access, access platforms, access architectures, netcomputing for residentials, and energy efficient access.
