  4. Letter Writing There are three basic types of letter, Business, Formal and Informal. Whichever letter you have to write in real life or is set as an exam question, you must make sure you use the correct layout for the letter.

Letter Writing 1 – Business Letters A business letter is set out like this: Your Name Your Address Your Town Your Postcode SENDER ADDRESS: Can be Letterhead or Left/Right/Centre Aligned (Date – USA) Business Contact Name RECIPIENT ADDRESS – Always Left Aligned Business Name Business Address Business Town Business Postcode. (Date – UK) Dear Sir./Dear Mr Smith. SALUTATION – Always Formal
