  4. Addition Add 5 red apples and 2 green apples + = 5 2 7 + =

  5. Addition Find the sum of 15 and 12. + 27 = 15 + 12 = 27

  6. 1.Find the sum of 34 and 23. 3 4 + 2 3 Addition without renaming First, add the units then add the tenths Tenth Unit 5 7

  7. Find the sum of 49 and 32 1 4 9 + 3 2 Addition with renaming First, you must add units and then tenth Tenth Unit 8 1

  8. Addition- problem Solving There are 16 boys and 14 girls in the classroom. How many children are there in the classroom? To find the sum, add the two numbers. 16 + 14 = 30 The sum of 16 and 14 is 30. Therefore, there are 30 children in the classroom. Boys Girls 16 14

  9. Addition- Problem solving 56 girls took part in the walkathon. If 15 more boys than girls have taken part in the Walkhaton, how many boys are there? To find the whole (or bigger quantity), we add; 56 + 15 = 71 ? Boys 15 Girls 56 The sum of 56 and 15 is 71. Therefore, there are 71 boys took part in the Walkhaton.

  10. Subtraction Amin has 10 pencils The rest are short. 6 of them are long whole ? part To find one part, we subtract. 10 – 6 = 4 Amin has 4 short pencils.

  11. Look at this example: Try ! 10 16 10 part 15 ? Whole ? part 16 - 10 = 6

  12. Subtraction Nor has 5 ducks. She gave 2 of her ducks to her sister.. How many ducks does she have now? 5 – 2 = 3 She has 3 ducks now.

  13. Find the difference between 27 and 15. 2 7 - 1 5 1 2 Subtraction without renaming First you must subtract the units then followed by the tenths Tenth Unit

  14. 1. Find the difference between 53 and 36 4 13 5 3 - 3 6 1 7 Subtraction – with renaming Tenth Unit

  15. SUBTRACTION- Problem solving 68 children take part in the drawing contest. 37 of them are boys. How many girls are there? 37 ? Boys Girls 68 • To find one part, we subtract 68 – 37=31 The difference between 68 and 37 is 31. Therefore, there are 31 girls.

  16. SUBTRACTION – Problem Solving 154 boys in a school took part in the cross country race . If there are 51 less girls than boys. How many girls have taken part in the cross-country race? ? 51 Girls less Boys • 1 5 4 • 5 1 • 1 0 3 154 • To find one part, we subtract 154 – 51=103 The difference between 154 and 51 is 103. Therefore, there are 103 girls.
