Pharma Science Center • The construction of new buildings for the Pharma School under the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Copenhagen will rectify a comprehensive and urgent need for more laboratories in the fields of chemistry, biology and technical pharmacology. By establishing shared facilities where scientists from different departments within the facultycaninteract and undertakecollaborativework, the developmentwillalsostrengtheninterdisciplinaryacademic research. • Location: Universitetsparken • Land holder: Bygningsstyrelsen • Size: 5,100 m2 • Budget: DKK 0.2 billion • Deadline: 2015

Mærsk Building • Panum currently houses the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Copenhagen, whose international biomedical research environmentwillbefurtherstrengthened by the addition of the Mærsk Building to the complex. A group of consultingarchitectsheaded by C.F. Møller won the international design competition in 2010, and theirverticalbuilding plan ensuresplenty of room at groundlevel for green spaces and urban life. From 2015, The Mærsk Building willbe the home of front line research in fieldswhere decisive work is undertakentowards the treatment of cancer, dementia, diabetes, heartdisease and allergies.   6. Extension of Copenhagen University Hospital • Through an extension and renovation of itsgrounds, Copenhagen University Hospital intends to consolidateits position as an academicspearhead institution as well as a highlyspecialized hospital. The Science City routes stand to improve the connectionbetween the hospital and the rest of Science City. Additions willinclude a treatment centre with new private rooms, state-of-the art operating rooms, an intensive caredepartment, outpatientdepartments and facilities for image diagnostics, as well as support services. • Location: Copenhagen University Hospital • Land holder: Capital Region of Denmark • Size: 76,100 m2 • Budget: DKK 2.4 billion • Deadline: 2018

Niels Bohr Building • The Danish University and Property Agency has begunconstruction on the Niels Bohr Building, a new buildingdevelopment for the Faculty of Science (SCIENCE) at the University of Copenhagen. This developmentwillresult in an entirely new setting for communication, education and the research conducted in the fields of physics, chemistry, computer sciences, mathematics, and science didactics at the University of Copenhagen. They all share a common feature: a vividinterest in traineeships, student jobs, entrepreneurship and other types of collaborative engagement with businesses. Contact betweenbusinesses and students is facilitated by several Copenhagen Science City operators • Next Generation is a collaborativeeffortbetween KU, CBS and DTU, and a number of organisations with experience in supporting innovation and development. Theircommongoal is to offer counseling and practical assistance to students, researchers and the industrialsector in all stages of the innovation chain. • Katapult – Entrepreneurial Greenhousehas as its mission to support a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship for students and educationalstaff at the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. Katapult offers support and counseling to students whowish to start theirown business venture, or to participate in the advancement of innovation and development in existingbusinesses. • Copenhagen Innovation and Entrepreneurship Labis collaborationbetween KU, CBS and DTU thatembodiestheir joint ambition of providinguseful case experience for students in closecooperation with partners in the industrialsector. Students are offered a new perspective on their studies, and areencouraged in the valuabledevelopment of ideas, utilizingtheiracademic excellence to developentrepreneurialskills. • Copenhagen Spinouts, in alliance with the industrialsector, aim to establishspinoutcompaniesbased on biotech research results from KU, DTU and the hospitals of Copenhagen. Theirgoal is to create 21 new businesses by 2014 with the help of Industrial Biotech Food, Pharmaceuticals and MedTech Diagnostics. The industrialpartnership in this joint venture guaranteesthatexperiencedentrepreneurswillfill the roles of mentors, while regional fundingallowstechnology and implementation to mature. • Lundbeckfond Emerge is a strategicinitiative by the Lundbeck Foundation whichacceleratescommercialization of earlyscientificopportunities by way of investment and activeprojectinvolvement. Weseek out projects from a widefieldsupported by solid scientific data and potential intellectualproperty. • DARE2mansion is a HUB & PROFESSIONAL PLAYGROUND, thatbringstogether a diverse group of high-growthentrepreneurs and free agents, the business community and academia.
