Target audience • The target audience of iCarly is teenage kids. It was premiered on Nickelodeon which was a TV channel for kids and teenagers. iCarly won Kids' Choice Awards in 2009, 2010, and 2011 for Favorite TV Show.
Introduction • Carly’s full name is Carly Shay and she is portrayed by Miranda Crosgrove. She is the main character of the Tv show iCarly. Carly’s brother, Spencer Shay is played by Jerry Trainor.
Characterization • Carly shay is a forgiving, nice, kind, and responsible girl. She has wavy dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes.Carly doesn’t get into a lot of trouble and she doesn’t break the rules. She usually get good grades. • On the episode iSpace out, it was seen that Carly has claustrophobia so she freaks out if she is stuck in a small space for a long time. When she feels depressed about something Carly goes to places with a large space and enough room to move around so she can clam herself.
What is iCarly? • Carly created her own online web show called iCarly with her best friends, Sam and Freddie. Carly and her friend Sam performed a funny comedy at a school talent show. Freddy taped it and posted it online. The online audiences loved the show and wanted to watch more, that is how iCarly was born.
Sam Puckett • Sam Puckett is Carly’s best friend and she is played by Jennette McCurdy. Her full name is Samantha "Sam" Puckett. She is portrayed as an aggressive and tomboyish person. Even so ,she does have a soft side especially when she feels guilty and she never did anything violent to Carly. Sam is strong for girls her size. On the episode iQuitiCarly, Sam was able to pull Carly up onto a window washer with one hand.
Freddie Benson • Freddie’s Full name is Fredward "Freddie" Benson. He is Carly’s neighbor and best friend. Freddie is played by Nathan Kress. He is a technology geek and gets excited with anything that has to do with technology. Freddie’s love for computer makes him iCarly's technical producer. He builds and operates technical equipment on iCarly such as special effects and the green screen.
Character’s Conflict • Carly’s friend, Sam is constantly getting into trouble. Sam is often bullying other people. She is strong and has a lot of physical strength for girls her age so she wrestles and fights with people a lot. She has a short temper so she gets mad easily. Carly is the only one who could calm her down without getting hurt. She is usually the one who takes the blame for the trouble Sam causes. Even so, Sam is the one who protects Carly. On the episode iOwe you she beats up a bully for pushing Carly.
Character’s Main problem • Carly’s main problem is NevelPapperman. Nevel makes reviews about webshows and posts it on his website. His reviews are so successful to the point that people will consider a web show not worth watching if it did not receive a good review from Nevel. After Nevel had a fight with Sam he writes a bad review for the iCarlywebshow, resulting many people to quit watching iCarly.
How the character deals with it On the episode iWant my website back, Nevel tricks Carly’s friend into selling the website to him and he makes fun of the webshow by using puppets. Later Carly tricks him into signing the website rights back to her.
Character’s Motivations • Carly and her friend’s performance at her school’s talent show impressed the audience, both at school and online. The audiences wanted to watch more of their performance and that motivates them to create the iCarlywebshow.
Why do I like the Character? • I like Carly because she is a kind and easy-going person. She cares deeply for her friends. When they get into trouble she is often the one pulling them out of it. Sometimes she takes the blame from her friend when they cause trouble.
What have I learned from the character? • Carly taught me that we should never abandon our friend. When she had a fight with Sam their webshow was ruined. Their fight even lead to a near-death situation for both of them. Even though Sam is constantly getting her into trouble Carly still describes her as a creative, awesome, fun, and smart person.
Relation to my life • On the episode iFight Shelby Marx, Carly agrees to do an exhibition fight with the CFC champion, Shelby Marx to promote the webshow. Before the fight, Shelby explained that she would not hurt Carly, the purpose of the fight was to collect money for charity. However, Carly was accused for pushing Shelby’s grandmother. After Shelby heard the news she wanted a real fight with Carly. At the end of the episode it was shown that Nevel had tricked Shelby into believing that Carly pushed her grandmother but the truth is that it was just an accident. Rumors about Carly led to a fight between her and Shelby. Sometimes the rumors and lies I heard about my friends can lead to misunderstandings.

The writer/movie maker’s reason for creating the character. • They created Carly because she is an intelligent, positive and responsible girl. Carly is always there when her friends need her. She stays out of trouble and gets good grades. She has a lot of determination and she can be a role model for many girls.
How the writer/movie maker want people to feel about the character • I think they want us to feel that Carly is just a normal girl. She doesn’t get into trouble and she is a good friend. She is usually the calm one among her friends. When they get into trouble she is often the one who stays calm and finds a solution. Even so, sometimes she is the one who freaks out.
