  5. CAMP-4-DATA Workshop • Interoperability • research datasets within and across domains • Universal schemes/models • necessary, feasible or desirable • Metadata Directory sustainability • open and participatory directories

  6. MASDIR goals, questions, discussion & engagement To be – 2 years out, 10 years out • Directory, why, what should it do? • An open directory • What is the best platform? As is…..current status… • DCC (Digital Curation Center) Disciplinary Metadata Directory http://www.dcc.ac.uk/resources/metadata-standards • Any other directories? • How could we aid/feed/make accessible? • DCC is for humans should/could we make it machine accessible? • use cases, should this be an emphasis • mapping, save people from duplicative efforts, converters

  7. MASDIR goals, questions, discussion & engagement Bridging the gap … between “as is” and “to be” • Defining concrete steps • Do you see standards that are missing? • What are you willing to do? • Low barriers to get stuff in the directory • Form for DCC input • Would you fill in the form for your organization, discipline, country, other • Additional data to collect: DCC broken links, news… • Rating of standards, recommender systems
