  2. Description The Maned Wolf has a long, slender body with skinny, long & stilt like legs. From foot to shoulder it’s legs are 74-78cm & is the largest canid in South America. It has large pointed ears that stand up constantly, a red coloured coat which stands up when danger is near by, a long muzzle & a mane like stripe running from the back of it’s head to it’s shoulder. It’s muzzle & rear leags are black. Top Left- Hoary Fox Top Right- Crab-eating Fox Bottom Left- Maned Wolf Bottom Right- Swift Fox

  3. Hunting Methods • The Maned Wolf is a nocturnal omnivore. It sleeps under a thick layer of bush. Maned wolfs are scavengers & hunters. They hunt & eat mice, rats, rabbits, armadillos, birds, reptiles & arthropods. Maned wolfs mostly eat Lobeira but it also will eat fruits. Maned wolfs will even eat any road kill it finds. But the Maned Wolf main hunting method is pouncing. It will use it’s strong ears to locate a hare or mouse then it will pounce or on it’s prey. If it’s prey is at very close range it will press it’s front paws on it’s prey. But just get a mouth full of meat is hard for the Maned Wolf.
