  2. APEGS CBA: There is a new experience assessment for geoscience candidates, called Competency- Based Assessment (CBA). This system has been approved by the APEGS membership, and it came into operation on January 1, 2021. This new system is available for use. More information about APEGS CBA: Before being issued a licence, you, as a geoscience applicant, have to demonstrate your ability to work as a geoscientist. The responsibility is on you to give evidence that you have, by means of experience, a satisfactory capability to work as a geoscientist at a professional level. Many of Canada’s geoscience regulating organizations are moving towards competency- based assessment of geoscience experience. For that, a pan-Canadian competency-based assessment project was taken up with participation from geoscience regulators in many provinces.
