Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment typically involves therapy and medication. Cognitive-behavioral therapy, exposure therapy, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) are common types of therapy used to treat PTSD. Antidepressant and anti-anxiety medications may also be prescribed to help manage symptoms.

Itisnosecretthatsomepeoplearegenetically pronetoPTSD.Someindividualsarepoor-tolerant of stress responses. Postmortem studies show thattheneuronsofpeoplewithPTSDare sensitivetoglucocorticosteroids.Nowresearchers have found a new way to confirm this hypothesis bycreatingbraincellsofPTSDpatientsfromtheir stem cells. This also helped them identify genes associatedwithglucocorticosteroidsensitivity. Thisstudyalsoopensthedoorforfuturestudies andposttraumaticstressdisordertreatment.
