  1. Nelson Mandela 1918-2013 • Nelson Mandela was born in Thembu, onJuly 18, 1918. • On December 5, 2013 Nelson Mandela died at age 95.

  2. In 1942 Mandela joins the African National Congress, South Africa's main campaigner for black equality. In 1964 Mandela and six others were sentenced to life imprisonment. Mandela walks out of prison, hand in hand with wife Winnie. Three years later on 15 October Mandela and de Klerk share Nobel Peace Prize.

  3. The PrisonYears In 1962 he was captured, and sentenced to five years in prison for leaving the country illegally and inciting a strike. He was finally released from prison in 1990 after over 27 years of unbroken incarceration. • After the released he was elected president of the ANC in 1991.

  4. The Nobel Prize Nelson Mandela was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, sharing it with Frederik Willem de Klerk, President of South Africa at the time.

  5. Nelson Mandela & Martin Luther King Mandela and Martin Luther King never met but they fought for the same cause at the same time on two differents continents.

  6. Actual Situation in Africa The socio-political situation of the population doesn't see anymore an oppressed black majority and a white minority dominance.
