BACKGROUND INFORMATION
  • Statistics Act empowers CSO to conduct the Census
  • Census taking in Swaziland dates back to 1898
  • Since 1936 ten yearly interval period has been maintained and questionnaires have been improving over the years
  • The last census was conducted in 1997 thus the next one to be conducted in 2007
  • Publication and Dissemination of census results to be completed mid 2009

  • Major source of population data
  • Sampling frame
  • Provides information for formulation/designing, monitoring and evaluating development programmes
  • Provides more detailed information that improve targeting of resources and interventions which leads to improved decision making
