3. Commission /Tax Amount • To find commission amount: • Commission = commission rate x total sales Karina works in an appliance store. She is paid 5% commission on all appliances she sells. What is her commission on the sale of a \$369 television?

4. Total Pay/ Total cost • Many salespeople are paid a salary plus commission for the items they sell. • To find the TOTAL PAY: • Total pay = commission + salary • Josh earns a weekly salary of \$300 and a 6% commission on his sales. Last week, his sales totaled \$3500. How much was his paycheck?

6. Selling Price/ Sales • To find the selling price of an item: • 1) Writing a percent equation. Solve • 3 ½ % of what number is 15.75? • Write a proportion. Solve. • 3.5/1oo = 15.75/n • (Percent/hundred percent = commission/price of item) • The commission rate at a teen clothing store is 15%. Stacey earned \$12 in commissions on a sale of a pair of jeans. What is the selling price of the jeans?
