What is PhET? • PhET stands for Physics Education Technology • Provides fun, interactive, research-based simulation of physical phenomena for free • PhET simulations animate what is invisible to the naked eye through use of graphics and intuitive controls • Simulations also offer measurement instruments including rulers, stop watches etc.

  3. PhET • All simulations are freely available from PhET website • Easy to use and incorporate into the classroom

  4. Source • Simulations are written using Java and Flash • Standard web browser can be used to run simulations as long as Flash & Java are installed • Offline website installer package can be used to install the website onto your computer • Once installed you can use the simulations offline

  5. Simulations • Areas covered by PhET include : Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Math, Cutting Edge Research, By Grade Level etc. • Along with simulations PhET also provides teaching and learning resources for teachers and students

  6. Demo • Show the PhET website for some examples • We will use the Lab activity to actually demonstrate the applicability of PhET simulations
