  4. Aim of the project Developing a common platform for the consolidation and advancement of ethical assessment in research and innovation. Project aims to develop a framework of ethical principles and practical approaches so as to strenghten shared understandings among actors involved in the design and implementation of research ethics.

ETHICS IN R&I • Ethical assesment refers to the identification and evaluation of ethical issues in R&I • The SATORI project brings together two existing traditions in ethics: research ethics, which is the ethical reflection on scientific practice, and technology ethics, which is the ethical study of the technology, engineering and innovation

Ethical assessment • to identify and evaluate ethical issues and problems in scientific research and innovation practices • to make recommendations and policy proposals to make R&I more ethical and responsible • covers a wide range of ethical issues (scientific integrity, fraud and misconduct, the rights of human subjects in research, use of animals, responsible product design, protection of privacy and civil rights…)

ACTIVITIES • Stakeholder mapping • Surveying of stakeholders’ needs for capacity building and training • Engaging stakeholders in the design of the SATORI framework • Training sessions to introduce the SATORI framework • Workshop regarding the cost-effectiveness ethical assessment • Stakeholder discussion about the impact of ethical assessment • Strategic planning with the key stakeholders to ensure sustainability of the framework • Dialogue with policy-level stakeholders
