Come Clean – One Village at a TimeWurtsboro, NY • OVERVIEW: This project proposes that the Village of Wurtsboro, under the collective banner of the Basha Kill Area Association, the Wurtsboro Board of Trade, and the Wurtsboro Renaissance, eliminate the use of plastic shopping bags in the Village of Wurtsboro. • Purpose: Business Development, Reducing our Landfill Footprint , and Education. • We would purchase, distribute and sell re-usable shopping bags • Media Blitz • Go Live: _________. • FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS: • Basic Premise: No Cost to Shopkeepers • Budget: Approx $10,000 • Some funds may be “rebated” – sale of bags • Need to purchase bags by _____! • Seeking Grants from _____________ • GOALS: • Reduce the waste footprint of the Village, • Reduce the amount of curbside trash visible in the village • Provide positive publicity for the village • Create a positive community-wide activity • Reduce our input into the County Landfill • Involve students at Emma Chase
