  3. Outcomes • To bring about increased collaboration between members of Piesa working groups. • To ensure the working groups work together in updating various specification documents. • To achieve the above means by way of a Wiki.

  5. How to access the PIESA Working Group Wiki • Simply go to the Piesa website www.piesa.com • Go to About us > Working Groups

  6. How to access the PIESA Working Group Wiki • Then click the link to the Wiki

  8. To be able to edit the Wiki, sign in with your username and password

  9. If you do not have a username and password, press Join to submit a request to Join.

  10. Access to the Wiki is managed by Yoni Balkind at VdW & Co yoni@vdw.co.za Click on “create an account” and follow the simple steps to request permission to join the Wiki.

  11. Once you have logged into the Wiki, use the navigation area on the left to navigate to different pages on the Wiki

  12. To edit the page that your are on simply press the Edit button

  13. Now you can edit the page. When finished press Save. P.S If you want you can also use the arrow next to the save button to call up the option to Save With Comment. This allows you to explain you changes so that people can later see why each round of changes happened.

  14. If the page you want to work on has not yet been created. You can create a new page of your own.

  15. If you do create a new page bear in mind that it will not appear in the navigation straight away. You will have to edit the navigation. And manually add the page to the navigation.

  16. Then highlight that text and click Link You do this be adding the name of the new page to the navigation list.

  17. Then press Add link and the new link will be added. Then use the pop-up box that appears to find the new page.

  18. Each specification document that is added to the Wiki should have its own page and should appear on the navigation

How the Working Group can work together on the Wiki • Step 1 is to locate the original specification document that needs to be updated. • Step 2 is to create a new page on the Wiki and to copy and paste that contents of that document into the new page of the Wiki • Step 3 is to edit the document • Note: the document may already be on the Wiki in which case you can simply login and start editing

  20. How the Working Group can work together on the Wiki • Bear in mind that when a document is pasted into the Wiki, it may lose some or all its formatting (colours, images, text sizes, numbering etc). • This has to be manually corrected.

  21. The editing tools allow you to use the page to its full potential. Change font size, colour, boldness, alignment etc. Add links, images, tables, and files.

  22. Tracking Changes • Every time a wiki page is changed, the previous version is stored. • Any previous version of a page can be restored. • Any previous version of a page can be compared to the latest version or to any other version.

  24. Tracking Changes Or you can select any 2 previous versions to compare them. You can click on a previous version of the page to view it.

  25. Discussion Every page has a discussion section where you can comment and discuss anything to do with that page

  26. Notifications The Notify Me tab is located on every page. It allows you to set your notification settings for that page to ensure that you are informed when any changes or discussions take place on that page.

  27. Recent changes The recent changes allows you to see all the changes that have happened on the Wiki since your last visit

  28. Closing Thoughts • There are many more features to the Wiki. Do not be scared to dive in and to learn yourself. • All changes are reversible.
