San Pedro Bay Ports Diesel Initiatives • Background • Ozone and PM2.5 Non-attainment; State Implementation Plan (SIP) • 3rd busiest port in the world (after Singapore and Hong Kong) • Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM) as a carcinogen – driving risk • Cold Ironing • Cold Ironing Cost Effectiveness Project (POLB) • Goods Movement Technology Evaluation • Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP); November 2006 • Joint collaborative between CARB, EPA, SCAQMD, and the San Pedro Bay Ports • Performance Standards for On-road Heavy-Duty Vehicles (Control Measure SPBP-HDV1) • Clean Truck Program Overview • $1.8 billion to replace/retrofit port trucks
