  3. Daily Schedule • 7:25 – 8:05 Arrival / MBC • 8:05 - 9:00 Common Core Math • 9:00 – 9:45 Specials • 9:45 – 10:00 Snack/Math RAP • 10:00 – 12:17 Common Core Reading/ELA • 12:17– 12:47 Lunch • 12:47– 1:35 Science / S.S. / Health • 1:40 – 2:00 Recess • 2:00 – 2:25 Pack Up/Dismissal

  4. Computer Lab,Media Center & Science LAb • Media Center every other week. • Computer lab – Funded by MESF • Working on typing skills • Formatting documents • special projects. • Science Lab – Funded by MESF

  5. Specials • All students need a recorder for Music • All students need a smock for Art (old t-shirt or dress shirt) to be kept in their book bag • Student must wear tennis shoes on Music, PE & Fitness days

Common Core • Rational is to make all students college/career ready by grade 12 • Emphasis is on student-centered learning where the teacher is serving as the facilitator • A deeper understanding which sets a firm foundation for students (It may seem slow at times, however, every step of learning is essential to proper development. In the past, students have had gaps in their learning due to a weak foundation.) • Stressed importance on listening/speaking by having meaningful conversations. • In Math students will still need to be fluent in math facts but we will be teaching several strategies for learning them.

  7. Science / S.S. / Health • Study guides / notes / workbook • Science lab visits w/Mrs. Kauffman • Tests or performance tasks at the end of each unit • Home projects • Market Day - April 5th

  8. Homework • Reading – 20 min. students will complete an assignment on a skill assigned that night. Track # of pages. • Math – will be given 1 problem to solve, explain & discuss with parents. Math workbooks can be used as a supplemental resource as needed. • Study for content tests • Parental guidance welcomed! • Math & Science books are online. Books allowed home if internet access is limited or not available. • Expected to be completed daily and will count as a minus in the E-folder if not completed. This will be reflected on their report card.

  9. Third Grade Testing • CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test): September 4th -6th • Verbal, Quantitative, Nonverbal • ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Skills): September 7th – 14th • Reading, Math, Lang. Arts, Sci., Maps • CRCT (Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests): April 22nd – 26th • Reading achievement determines promotion to 4th grade

  10. Field Trips • The Wright Center • 3 in school visits • 2 on site visits • Holiday Magic Show • Wellstar Health Program Visits • Tellus Rock and Mineral Museum ???

  11. Snack & Water • Healthy; nothing sugary • Limit to ONE, please! • Water bottles • Donations welcome!

  12. Class Behavior Plan • Points/Tickets– Grade Level Incentive • Getting agenda signed and turning in homework • Neat desk- Random checks • Good sportsmanship/citizenship • Random surprises • Several ways to earn some more • Can lose them too… • Reward Days / Manufacturing Day

  13. Consequences • Fill out the behavior clip board to show letter of specific behavior: Warning, yellow, red, black • Loss of ticket • E-folder marked / time out of recess • Note sent home • Office referral
