  1. Deposit Collection Booktalk Program

Goals • Provide Library programming for customers who face barriers in visiting a public library and participating in programming • Promote Lifelong learning and equal access to all Hennepin County residents • Provide readers advisory service for customers who are traditionally not computer users and therefore not able to use the library's online reader's advisory tools • Increase knowledge and use of the Deposit Collections available in a resident's building

  3. Background Fall 2007 • Booktalking program began in the Fall of 2007 • Outreach staff developed program/training • Three suburban librarians attended training • Volunteers recruited by Margie Schuster • Booktalks given at seven senior living sites • About 100 people attended eight booktalks

  4. Background Spring 2008 • Three additional librarians joined • Seven booktalks given • 130 attended booktalks Fall 2008 • Ten booktalks given • 180+ attended booktalks

  5. Background Spring 2009 • Eleven booktalks given • Over half were first-time booktalk sites Fall 2009 • Eleven booktalks given • 360 total attended booktalks for the year
